Delta STT Celebrates the Re-Opening of Gate 6
Delta STT Celebrates the Re-Opening of Gate 6
On October 26, 2018 Delta STT prepared for their first flight out of Gate 6 since Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit the Virgin Islands in September 2017. Extensive work to restore Gate 6 back to workable order throughout the year. In honor of this Operations Manager Jose Bultes was commissioned to bake a creative cake for the passengers and crew alike. Mr. Bultes set to work construction a detailed replica of the Delta Aircraft complete with working lights on the aircraft and on a hand-made runway.
The Aircraft Cake was flanked by artfully crafted cupcakes made and decorated by Jose Bultes to mimic the water, earth, and foliage surrounding our Airport. The cake had to be assembled at the Gate with the help of volunteer ramp and counter agents while the travelling public looked along excitedly. Once the cake was assembled, Jevon Gilpin Delta STT Station Performance Leader addressed the Delta Passengers at the Gate explaining the journey to restore the Gate back to a working order. He thanked the hardworking staff and invited the traveling public to take part in the cake and cupcakes as they got ready to board as the first flight out of Gate Six in a little over a year.
