After completing his secondary education at Harrison College, John Taylor received a Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from the High Wycombe College of Technology in England. On returning to Barbados in 1977, he joined W.B. Hutchinson and was made Plant Manager of the plastics manufacturing division.
In 1984, in association with the leading soft drink companies in Barbados, Mr Taylor established Plastic Containers Ltd, the first company in the English Caribbean to manufacture plastic bottles for that industry. In 1995, Mr Taylor joined Goddard Enterprises Limited (GEL) as General Manager of its subsidiary company McBride (Caribbean) Limited (McBride). In 1998, in addition to his responsibility for McBride, Mr Taylor was appointed Managing Director of The West Indies Rum Distillery Limited. In 2000, Mr Taylor’s duties were expanded within the Manufacturing and Services Division of GEL when he was appointed Deputy Divisional General Manager. In addition, Mr Taylor was appointed a member of the GEL Management Committee. In March 2006, Mr. Taylor was promoted to the position of Divisional General Manager.
Mr Taylor is a Director of several companies within the Goddard Group and is a past Vice President of the Barbados Manufacturers Association. |
