Independence Agencies Ltd was a family owned and operated company situated on the island of Grenada. The company was established in October 1973 by Mr. Cecil K. (Ralph) Sylvester assisted by his two sons, Ken Sylvester and Brian Sylvester who concentrated on the Import Distribution side of the business; and a daughter, Yoland Radix who manages the Cash and Carry in Grand Anse - which services trade customers but is open to the consuming public who are required to purchase minimum quantities of most items.
The company operates from three (3) locations - St. George’s, the Sugar Mill Roundabout at Grand Anse and there is a newly constructed warehouse on the Maurice Bishop Highway.
Independence Agencies Ltd is focussed on import distribution and marketing and controls approximately 30% of that market. Its emphasis is on food, liquor and household consumable products. Some of the major international brands represented by Independence Agencies are: Eve, Anchor, Colcafe Brand Coffee, Piton Beer, Cockspur rum and Hunts, Wesson and Lachoy products.
Goddard Enterprises purchased 51% of the shares in Independence Agencies Ltd in 2002. Mr. Ken Sylvester is now the Managing Director following the retirement of his father - Mr. Cecil Sylvester.
